Finger Eleven: The Band Behind the Hit "Paralyzer"

Finger Eleven is a Canadian rock band formed in Burlington, Ontario, in 1990. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years, but its current members include Scott Anderson (lead vocals, guitar), James Black (lead guitar, backing vocals), Richard "Rick" Jackett (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Sean Anderson (drums, percussion).

Early Years and Rise to Success

In the early 1990s, Finger Eleven released their debut EP, "Tip," and their first full-length album, "Letters from Chutney," in 1996. While these releases garnered some attention, it was their 2000 album, "The Greyest of Blue Skies," that propelled them to mainstream success. The album's lead single, "One Thing," became a hit on rock radio, earning the band a Juno Award for Rock Group of the Year.

Breakthrough with "Paralyzer"

In 2003, Finger Eleven released their fourth studio album, "Finger Eleven." The album featured the smash hit "Paralyzer," which became one of the most played songs on rock radio that year. The single reached the top five on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and helped the album achieve platinum status in both Canada and the United States.

Continued Success and Challenges

Following the success of "Finger Eleven," the band released several more albums, including "Them Vs. You Vs. Me" (2007), "Life Turns Electric" (2010), and "Five Crooked Lines" (2015). However, they also faced challenges, including the departure of founding member Rob Gommerman in 2009 and a hiatus from 2010 to 2012 due to Scott Anderson's struggles with addiction.

Recent Years and Controversies

In 2020, Finger Eleven released their eighth studio album, "The Unseen Power of the People." The album marked a return to the band's heavier rock sound and received positive reviews from critics. However, the band also faced controversy in 2021 when they performed at a concert in Canada that violated COVID-19 restrictions.
